Photoshoot
I had a big photo shoot the other weekend with the lovely photographer, Courtney Scalzo (she has great rates, takes great photos, and brought me a model!), so that I could get started on my online boutiques. It's hard to do a photo shoot while also running shop, so thankfully I had help from fellow vintage-seller and friend Mikhaila of All the Pretty Birds. I actually met her because she brought in some clothing to consign and I found we had a lot in common. There is a little backyard behind my shop, it's pretty run-down, but it offered an interesting backdrop to my photos only a door away.
Courtney is in the process of editing photos for me, and while she does that, I am measuring clothing and posting them on my online boutique and Etsy! I used to sell my soap and other bath products on Etsy so I figured I would do a little of both with my new endeavor. If anyone has any feedback for me let me know! Otherwise, stay tuned as I update with new items.

WHAT'S NEW
First, you can now find Blackbird Attic items on Etsy! I will be doing a mix of items on Etsy and on my online store as well. And of course you can find them in-store (dare I say some items might be a couple dollars cheaper in store..) so come check it out!
We recently got in some Bubble Roome products. They are these amazing natural products with neat packaging as well! They won't be here forever, so now is your chance to pick them up locally. I am already obsessed with the 3 butters lotion (shea, cocoa, and mango) with an almond bergamot scent. I make bath products myself, so it isn't everyday I talk them up ; )
Above are the Matt Cipov prints we have in stock. They are really fun designs with various masks - every one is different! They are only $8 a pop and already have tabs that you can use to easily tac to the wall, or find a cheap frame somewhere to give them some class. We also have some bigger originals of his up for this month's gallery showing.
Lastly, check out this fun video courtesy of Vaccinated Society and my friend Patti Dale:

'We Are Masks' Matt Cipov Gallery Show
Matt Cipov's We Are Masks Artshow opening was this past weekend for second Saturday in Beacon. We received a great reaction to his style of artwork! The pieces will be available in store until November 12th and select pieces will be online soon.

Why 'Blackbird Attic'
In my quest to come up with a gender ambiguous name that also gave some implication to what the boutique would be, I decided I liked 'Attic'. Attics' are full of fun treasures and I would never pass up a chance to search through one.
The first house I grew up in actually had three attics and I thought that made me the coolest kid pretty much. It was an old farmhouse and there was a small door into a crawlspace/play area off of my upstairs bedroom; from there you hopped down into a dark attic that just had a thin area of space to walk, and lastly you would hop down into the large attic which connected to our downstairs kitchen by a set of stairs.
However, apparently I was not the first person with a vintage/consignment store to decide they liked 'Attic' as well. I decided to try pairing some words with Attic when I realized I had a fit. It was the first spring spent in our first house, and a pair of (black)birds (starlings) decided our home was theirs as well. Blackbird Attic.
