What's New at Blackbird Attic

Some new tops from Anthropologie. I love all the patterns!

Some Marc Jacobs shoes just in that are perfect for spring and summer. The previous owner only wore them once or twice and they come with the box. Labeled an 8, they have a 9 7/8" insole and 4" heel.

Some new vintage purses I have in. I really love the style of these. Geometric/triangle patterns are in right now and it has a sort of modern edge to it. My favorite part of the blue beaded bag is the little diamond detail on the kiss lock clasp (hard to see in this photo).

Some new jewelry. Most pieces are from Anthropologie, the glass and crystal bracelet is from Jcrew.

I'm putting these babies on ebay. Vintage Cherokee brand from the 70's. They are the epitome of summer style, with 70's wooden chunky platforms being a huge trend this season. They measure- 10" insole and 5.5" high. Check back soon and I'll include a link to the auction.

What's New on Etsy
Just added a few new things to Etsy:

Vintage Sequin Pastel Dress. This dress is so adorable and looks much better in person. It's perfect for the spring and would make a really unique prom dress.

New Looks
Intern Madison (recent FIT fashion designer acceptee, woo hoo!) came by on Saturday to help give our ladies a makeover.

To the right we have a really pretty vintage flowy dress and an 80's white lace dress accessorized with a vintage stone necklace and shield buckle belt.

That pretty peach top with the peter pan collar is from Anthropologie.

A lace sleeve top combined with a handmade vintage skirt and vintage handbag.

A silky drape top with a large abstract flower and a red Lux brand tunic dress.

A vintage print dress and a dress you have to see in person to see all the detail paired with a vintage crochet cape. Very bright, fun and Easter.

A boho top and necklace with a striped maxi skirt I love.

The aformentioned dress paired with a cute vintage crop cardi and next to that is a fun floral jumper dress with the top from Anthropologie.

A bright pink American Apparel crop top with some vintage high waisted shorts.

A fun bright floral scarf with a gingham print top and black skirt.

Catching Up
Hello everyone! I have been a bad blogger.. so let's catch up..

Recently my sister has come to Beacon to help out at the shop. With the extra hands I've finally achieved my goal of getting more things online. Right now there are a variety of vintage purses and dresses on my etsy. There are a couple items on eBay at the moment as well, including two Marc Jacobs tops. I also took pictures of a bunch of the women's tops and men's top that are in store. Everything is available for shipment. I'll be putting things on etsy (vintage and handmade) more frequently now and also try to have a photo inventory of many of the items in the shop on my facebook page. If you would like to be updated on this, 'like' my fb page.

I've marked a lot of things down in store for a spring cleaning sale. I'm also doing a written questionnaire in store, if you stop by and fill it out you have the chance to win a $30 gift certificate! I'll be doing more promos in the upcoming months including a frequent buyer card.

We changed the windows up a bit, adding a lot of little birdhouses to one window, and hanging some clothes in the other. Something fresh and fun for spring. You'll be seeing some adobrable little kitties in the windows in May for our annual adoption event. Our store is also going to be used as a location for a short film and we're hoping to get a promo video out of that as well.

On Friday Aril 8th, I am having an art show called Tricks That Girls Can Do by The Disaster Life. You can RSVP here.

Also important to mention! Our one year anniversary is this May! There will be an event for this..more details to come..
Lastly, just wanted to let everyone know that we are taking in items on consignment. We're looking for items for spring and summer, styles you'd find at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, or designer pieces. Also Vintage that is pre 80's, unique jewelry and accessories, and cute homewares/decorations. You can bring things by any day (except Tue/Wed), between 12-5pm.

Madison's Picks

This is such a cute sweater for an everyday outfit. It's sweet yet casual. My favorite part is the ruffly collar, it adds a bit of fun. Can be worn with anything from high-waisted jeans to a full tea party skirt.

I like this shirt because it can be worn with anything. It can be worn under blazers, cardigans, or even tucked into a pencil skirt. It's off-white color can be matched with anything. The lace can go with anything without clashing. It adds some elegance to an outfit.

As soon as this jacket came into the store i was in love. It's full out suede making it something I have never seen before. It's perfect for winter if you want a heavy jacket. Mixing the suede with leathers or other textured fabrics is risky but that is what's in this winter. I would pair it with a loose fitting bohemian top and some liquid leggings. Switch it up!

What's New:

Miss mannequin is wearing a vintage gold beaded dress with drape back by Oleg Cassini ($32) and a felted heart necklace by Pulp Sushi($12).

Close up of perfect condition vintage NCI Nationaal Jacket Fur Collar ($55).

I love this super unique vintage sheer capelet with embroidery on the back ($20).

The green dress on the right was already snatched up, but the amazing Anthropologie brand sweater on the left is still available ($28).

I love this modern To the Max blazer with braided leather shoulder detailing! It's the perfect combination of fun and/or professional ($22). The outfit on the right would be great for the holidays, pair it with a cardigan to stay warm! Banana Republic sequin tank ($18) and vintage maroon stretch skirt ($11).

Lastly, I just got in this amazing vintage wedding dress, I believe it's from the 60's and it also has a long train of the same fabric as the dress ($200).

Photoshoot

I had a big photo shoot the other weekend with the lovely photographer, Courtney Scalzo (she has great rates, takes great photos, and brought me a model!), so that I could get started on my online boutiques. It's hard to do a photo shoot while also running shop, so thankfully I had help from fellow vintage-seller and friend Mikhaila of All the Pretty Birds. I actually met her because she brought in some clothing to consign and I found we had a lot in common. There is a little backyard behind my shop, it's pretty run-down, but it offered an interesting backdrop to my photos only a door away.
Courtney is in the process of editing photos for me, and while she does that, I am measuring clothing and posting them on my online boutique and Etsy! I used to sell my soap and other bath products on Etsy so I figured I would do a little of both with my new endeavor. If anyone has any feedback for me let me know! Otherwise, stay tuned as I update with new items.
