Dressing for the Occasion

I gotta say...I love that the weather seems to be warming up, but like the bi-polar biatch she is, Mother Nature keeps throwing curve balls our way. So, if you're like me, it's a daily struggle to pull a perfect-for-the-weather outfit when it just keeps changing at the drop of hail. I tend to gravitate towards mid-length dresses and boots this time of year, it seems to keep me warm enough but also allows for me to nix the tights. Below are some transitional pieces from Blackbird Attic, available now!

All of these dresses are so versatile in the fact that you can pair them with boots, a boyfriend cardi, a cool leather jacket or just wear it alone and you have SO many looks to choose from. I guess the question you really have to answer is: "Who do I want to be today?"

May a pretty rainbow after the rain light your fashion ways...

Flower Power

Source
A phrase coined in the 1960s and 1970s, flower power has a peaceful meaning--hippies embraced the symbolism by dressing in clothing with embroidered flowers and vibrant colors, wearing flowers in their hair etc.

Abundant in the Spring, flowers along with pastels can be a great addition to your closet. Blackbird Attic has the following in stock:

Wear with a pair of high-waisted flares and some platforms and you have a groovy outfit.
Anthropologie Edme & Esyllte I Size 8 I $18

This dress is so versatile it's ridiculous--pair with heels and some fancy jewelry for a night out, or with wedge or gladiator sandals for a casual day look.
Anthropologie Lilka Floral Ruffle Dress I Medium I $17.50
I love the color palette within this Free People dress. Have fun with this and wear just as vibrant of colors on your feet and accessories.
Free People Dress I $24.99 I Small-Medium
While I'm not a fan of the black tights in the photo, you can use black accessories to accompany this flowerful frock.
Silence Noise I Small I $13.50

Rainy Days and Mondays

You know what they say...April showers bring May flowers. Now, that we're a week into April, to prepare us for the "rainy season," we've compiled some inspiration for those wet days ahead. No need to look like a drowned rat--there are rain coats, boots, umbrellas and more to brighten up even the cloudiest of days.

Read up on the Glitter Guide's- 10 Ways to Style Rain Boots for Spring!

I'm a sucker for a creative umbrella--a la How I Met Your Mother's reoccuring theme of the yellow umbrella. However, my favorite umbrella that I have ever owned happened to be clear and fit perfectly over my person that I could see the street and not ruin a perfectly put together outfit. This one below, comes extremely close too...

The next best thing for a rainy day is a great coat. You want something that's going to keep you warm and dry but also help you look amazing while running across the street to catch a cab. We liked this one:

A similar version is also available at Blackbird Attic, below:

And no rainy day would be complete without curling up in a cozy chair with a cup of tea and a good book. To set that ambiance light some homemade soy candles.

Stay dry!

The royal blue skirt adds a pop of color as does the teal and gold chevron bracelet. Polish off the outfit with black rosette heels and you'll look like a million bucks, but of course, you spent MUCH less.
